The Immortals Of Meluha is the first book of Shiva Trilogy. The story is mainly based on a idea that all gods were once humans. This is the first book in a trilogy on Shiva, the simple man whose Karma re-cast him as a Mahadev, the God of Gods.
The story starts with the arrival of Shiva to Meluha. The story is set in the land of Meluha ,the land created by Lord Ram. Meluha is the empire of Suryavanshis ,also known as the land of pure life. Meluhans belongs to Suryavanshis ,followers of lord ram and the solar calendar. they are fed up by the attack of Chandravanshis( followers of the lunar calendar)who have joined with Nagas , a cursed race of people with physical deformities. Meluhans are strong believers of Neelakanth concept. They believes that a Nelakanth would arrive and save them from the Chandravanshis.
Daksha , the present king of Meluha invite Guna tribe from Tibet to Meluha. Shiva ,chief of Guna tribe accept the offer and moves to Meluha. Once they reached Ayurvati the chief medicine of  Meluha gives them a medicine. On that night Ayurvati founds that Shiva's throat turns blue. The Meluhans announce Shiva as a Neelakanth and he is taken to Devgiri, capital city of Meluha. There he meet Sati ,daughter of Daksha. She is Vikrama, an untouchable person due to sins committed in the previous birth. Shiva with his friends Nandhi and Veerabhadra stayed in Devagiri. on that time Shiva wins the heart of sati and marry her, eventhough the Vikrama rules prohibit them from doing so. During his stay in Devgiri he meets Brahaspati, the chief Meluhan scientist. . Brahaspati take Shiva to Mount Mandar, where the holy drink Somaras is manufactured using the water of the river Saraswati. Shiva finds that it is the Somaras makes his throat turn blue. Somaras contain anti- ageing property which makes Meluhans immortal. One morning a blast took place at Mandar ,  it destroy the parts of Mandar and kill the scientist living there. Shiva founds that it is done by Chandravanshis and he declares war on them at Swadweep. During the war the Chandravanshi king is captured by Shiva. Chandravanshi princess Anandmayi explained Shiva that they too believe in Neelakanth concept and they are waiting for Neelakanth to come and save them from Suryavanshis. After hearing this Shiva get confused and stressed. With sati he visits the famous Ram temple in Ayodya, the capital of Swadweep. As he comes out of the temple, he finds sati being kidnapped by Nagas. So Shiva decided to go Dendaka forest in search of sati. Dandaka is a dense forest where the Nagas reside , at their capital Panchavati. At this instance part one of Shiva trilogy ends.
