The Diary of a Young Girl also known as Diary of Ann Frank , is a book of the writings from the diary kept by Ann frank while she was hiding with her family during the Nazi occupation of Netherlands. Annelies Marie was born on 12 June 1929 at Frankfurt ,Prussia, Weimar Republic. In her diary she documents her life events from 1942 to 1944,during the German occupation of the Netherlands in World War II. During the Nazi occupation of the Netherlands ,as a precaution in July 12 1942 Franks went into hiding in concealed rooms behind a book case in the building where Ann's father worked, from then until their family was arrested by Gestapo in August 1944. Later Otto Frank's business partner Hermann Van pels and his family joined with them. Ann Frank , her father Otto Frank, her mother Edith and her sister Margot and Hermann Van pels ,his wife Auguste, his son Peter , all of them hide in the upper rooms in the Otto's company building in Amsterdam. Four months later Mrs. Van pels dentist ,Fritz Pfeffer joined them . With the help of Otto's colleagues they hidden for two years. Victor Kugler, Johannes Kleiman, Miep Gies, Bep Voskuijl were the only employees who knew about their hiding.
Ann write in the diary which she had received as a birthday gift. Ann always starts her with 'Dear kitty' she named her diary as kitty. Ann wrote her emotions and her life in the small room behind a book case in the diary. At first she was happy to meet and live with new people but problems quickly developed around among them. They lived in such a confined situation were they have scarcity of food , clothing and space. She clashed with Auguste Van pels, she regarded her as foolish. She regarded Van pels and Fritz as selfish , particularly regard to the amount of food they consume. She fell in love with Peter son of Hermann Van pels and Auguste Van pels. She received her first kiss from peter. So many events happened in her life in between the 2 years . She continued writing regularly until 1 August 1944. In 1944 they were deported to Nazi concentration camp. At the age of 15 she died of Typhus in Bergen Belsen a Nazi concentration camp. Otto Frank was the only one survived among the eight. Her diary was first published in 1942. The diary has since been published in more than 60 languages.
